Google Grants Management

Helping nonprofits access and maximise their $10,000/month Google Ad Grant. Expert setup, compliance monitoring, and ongoing optimisation so your charity never loses its grant.

What Is Google Ad Grants — and Why Does It Need Expert Management?

Google Ad Grants is a programme that gives eligible nonprofits up to $10,000 per month (roughly £8,000) in free Google Search advertising. That's $120,000 a year in free ads to promote your cause, recruit volunteers, drive donations, and raise awareness.

The catch? Google enforces strict compliance rules that most charities struggle to meet on their own. Your account must maintain a 5% click-through rate every month. You're limited to a $2.00 maximum CPC bid (unless using Maximise Conversions). You cannot use single-word keywords, overly generic terms, or keywords with a Quality Score below 2. And you must have valid conversion tracking reporting at least one conversion per month.

Fail to meet these requirements and Google will suspend your grant — cutting off thousands of pounds in free advertising overnight. At PPC Chief, we ensure your grant account stays compliant, your budget is fully utilised, and your campaigns deliver meaningful results for your charity.

What Our Grant Management Includes

Everything your charity needs to access, maintain, and maximise a Google Ad Grant.

Ad Copy & Landing Pages

Compelling ad copy that drives clicks and maintains the required 5% CTR threshold. Landing page recommendations to maximise conversions.

Compliance Monitoring

Ongoing monitoring to ensure your account stays within Google's grant policies — CTR thresholds, keyword quality, geo-targeting, and bid caps.

Monthly Performance Reporting

Clear, jargon-free monthly reports showing how your grant budget is being used, including impressions, clicks, conversions, and compliance status.

Conversion Tracking

Proper conversion tracking setup for donations, volunteer sign-ups, event registrations, and other key actions your charity needs to measure.

Google Ad Grant Compliance Requirements

These are the rules your charity must follow to keep its grant active. We monitor and manage every one of them.

Maintain 5% CTR

Your account must maintain a minimum 5% click-through rate each month. Falling below this for two consecutive months risks suspension.

No Single-Word Keywords

Google Ad Grants accounts cannot use single-word keywords (with limited exceptions for branded terms). All keywords must be multi-word phrases.

No Overly Generic Keywords

Keywords must be relevant to your charity's mission. Terms like "free videos" or "best apps" will trigger compliance warnings.

Quality Score Above 2

Keywords with a Quality Score of 1 or 2 must be paused. This requires well-structured campaigns with relevant ad copy and landing pages.

$2 CPC Bid Cap

Standard grant accounts are limited to a maximum $2.00 cost-per-click bid, though Maximise Conversions bidding can bypass this cap.

Valid Conversion Tracking

Accounts must have valid conversion tracking in place and must report at least one conversion per month to remain in good standing.

Google Grants Management — Frequently Asked Questions

  • Google Ad Grants provides eligible nonprofits with up to $10,000 (approximately £8,000) per month in free Google Search advertising. It's part of Google for Nonprofits and allows charities to promote their mission, drive donations, recruit volunteers, and raise awareness — all without spending a penny on ad clicks.
  • To qualify, your organisation must hold valid charity status (registered with the Charity Commission in the UK), have a website that meets Google's requirements (functional, provides adequate detail about your mission), and agree to Google's terms of service. Government entities, hospitals, and academic institutions are generally not eligible.
  • Google Ad Grants come with strict compliance rules — a 5% CTR threshold, keyword restrictions, bid caps, and conversion tracking requirements. Failing to meet these can result in account suspension. Professional management ensures you stay compliant, maximise your grant spend, and avoid losing access to $120,000 of annual free advertising.
  • If your account is suspended for non-compliance, you lose access to your $10,000/month grant until the issues are resolved and Google reactivates the account. We handle the entire reinstatement process — identifying compliance violations, fixing them, and submitting the reactivation request to Google.
  • Most self-managed grant accounts use less than 40% of their available budget due to the $2 CPC cap and keyword restrictions. With expert management and Maximise Conversions bidding, we typically help charities utilise 70-90% of their grant — that's up to $9,000/month in free advertising working for your cause.
